Education & Training

Dr Basira Kankia Lawal has more than ten years of experience as a pharmacist. She is a senior lecturer at Kaduna State University and an avid researcher interested in health services research, patient safety, mixed methods research, and implementation science. Dr Lawal is also an active member of a mentorship forum, the Pharmacists Scholars Initiative (PSI). She has a PhD in Clinical Pharmacy, with additional certifications from the Leaders of Africa Institute, University of Michigan, UNC School of Social Work, Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality, and many others. She is motivated by the desire to research and improve healthcare quality. For her contributions to the field, she has received numerous honours and awards and has published extensively in local and international journals. She has also been awarded research grants and scholarships and has participated in various leadership and sustainability programs. Dr. Lawal’s commitment to continuous learning and growth is evident in her recent completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Under the Leadership in Public Management track, she further honed her skills and knowledge, preparing herself for even greater contributions to the field.
